Halloween 2017

So far it’s been a great Fall!

*minus the sickness*

Last night Jack celebrated his first Halloween!

7A0B4C2E-C14A-4B76-B85A-569E56FE2B16

We went out trick or treating for a little bit, but both of the boys were sick, so we just went to a couple neighbors and that was it.

0D798E17-5D63-4481-8F65-A40E7BD9183C

This year Preston wanted to be a ghost like in his Clifford (the big red dog) books. He said we needed to find a really big kleenex for him to wear!! (that is what puppy clifford wore when he was so tiny). It was too cute! He wanted Chad to be a ghost with him. So we whipped up a few the old fashioned way. haha! Never again though! It was a struggle for us to get Preston to wear it because he felt like he couldn’t see very well. From now on, we’ll know he needs to have something that does NOT cover his face! Lesson learned 🙂

We wanted Jack to be a Bear since that is his nickname. I found an adorable Panda costume at Pottery Barn Kids! So Jack got to be a panda bear!! Preston wanted me to be a panda with Jack, so I found a cute panda hat to wear. haha!

My family came to town so we did the Trick or Treating on main street the weekend prior to halloween.

Well, that’s all for now!

{{Hoping the sickness passes soon. Preston hasn’t been getting any better and Jack is getting worse. SAVE ME! It’s been hard for me because Chad goes to work before the boys wake up and isn’t home until after they are in bed usually. So with them being sick and extra needy, it’s been very tiring and a lot of work! Jack threw up all over him, me, the rocking chair, and the floor as I was trying to put him to bed last night. This morning he threw up all over his carseat. So a lot of cleaning and laundry for me!!}}

…until next time! xoxo ❤

Jack – 10 months!

It’s hard to believe our little Jack is 10 months old already!! He’s been changing daily. It’s crazy to watch the things he learns and discovers daily.

BF876DFC-9C6B-4393-8638-6D011B7A46CD

He has started clapping which is totally adorable. Everytime I say ‘yay’ he claps. haha! {Pavlov’s dog anyone?!} He is a crawling machine!!! He is all over the place. He’s a speed crawler and can catch up with me, even when I don’t want him too! haha. He’s been crawling for over a month now, so I supposed it’s okay he’s all over the place 😉

57055F49-C085-4543-B8DA-5F019C7DCF53

Speaking of being all over the place, he is into everything!! Literally, a clean house? what is that?! Everywhere I turn he is into cupboards taking everything out and scattering it all over the house. It wouldn’t be a day if there weren’t plastic cups, plates, pantry items, paper towel rolls, etc, all over the house! Thankfully, when we moved, I knew to put anything and everything that wasn’t breakable on the lower shelves.

1E8720D7-DE39-4E6A-ADD1-B69FB638FB4B

The entire house is baby proofed, except we still need to put locks on the few bathroom cupboards that are within his reach. We’ve even anchored all the tall furniture to the walls. With Preston we never had to worry about that because he never tried to climb anything! Jack pulls himself up on anything and everything!! He also likes to pull drawers out and he’s super strong! He even pushed down our baby gate. We are going to have to screw it to the wall soon enough!

78DC1FED-D64C-40BC-919F-D278FBFC924F

Jack loves Preston. He could follow him around and play with him all day. He lets Preston feed him and give him bottles! It is so sweet the bond that they have already.

27053562-6479-4ECF-B55F-7577E1AE6D5F

At night Jack has started sleeping through the night again! Yay! He sleeps from 6:30pm – 5:30 am every night. He still likes nursing in the morning and a couple times throughout the day, but he has started to self wean a bit. {{yes, still making milk while pregnant! ❤ our bodies are amazing!}} He much prefers drinking out of a bottle these days. It’s nice for the freedom, but it’s a little bittersweet. Preston was no where near done nursing at 10 months.

0B5E1F61-0961-4754-BDED-7158D49E6217

Jack has turned into a bottomless pit when it comes to eating! He loves eating. He is such a good eater too. He will eat anything we serve him. It’s so nice, Preston was the same way when he was young. Preston still has a very broad palate! Thanks to Chad, he eats anything and everything healthful and unique, so the boys get a lot of exposure at a young age.

28A57084-BB3A-46DF-9CC7-3AA6E97EE902

Last month was a little rough for Jack in that he was teething and wanted to be held and carried around all over the place!! Within the last week or 2 he has started becoming more independent! For example, its noon and he has been playing with Preston since he (Preston) woke up this morning at 7:15am. Well, besides stopping to eat every once in awhile, and taking an hour long nap.

C3AE722B-F50C-4D46-BCEA-845672AD22D7

Napping had been going well for Jack for a few weeks. He was taking anywhere from a 1 -3 hour nap in the mornings around 9am. Afternoon naps were a little more hit or miss. Some days he would take one and some days he won’t. They were never longer than an hour either. Hence why he was ready to pass out by 6:30pm! However, within the last week Jack has gone down to one nap a day! He will go down around noon and sleep for an hour. Sometimes longer, but not by much!! So he is ready for bed by 6pm now. The last few nights he’s been asleep by 6pm. He still sleeps well though. He will sleep until about 5:30 or 6 am. I would love to have him go to bed later *hoping* he would sleep in a little later, but I must admit, I love having the boys in bed so early! Both boys are in bed by 7pm. Having our evenings free is so nice, yes, it’s a rush around with dinner and bedtime routine, but with Chad and I tag teaming the boys, it’s pretty painless. That gives us the evenings to clean, chat, or watch an ‘adult’ show, aka anything scarier than Toy Story. haha.

556C8499-05B3-45C5-A252-19584E6FB4B8

He is so close to walking!! I bet he will be walking within the week!! He has taken a few steps. He likes to push around a kitchen chair to walk or he will push his little red wagon.

1D15C934-5557-4214-ABC7-6DCC17CFC6CD

He also celebrated his first Halloween yesterday!! I’ll have to do a post about it, but here is a little sneak peek of our Panda Bear!!

820E2A04-927F-4AC9-BDF2-F4C1E380B4C9

^^oh yeah! he has been chewing on his upper lip. I think he’s cutting his top teeth right now. Poor guy!!

CF9568F8-0347-43D1-9FA9-8D5ACE2820A3

He love looking down vents and feeling the heat blow up at him!! It’s too cute!!

D8DCEBAC-1E04-419D-8F07-3E7202529231

Both of the boys have been sick for about a week now! It has been horrible!! I’m finally experiencing my first sickness that has consumed both of my boys! It’s hard because they are both tired and cranky and want to be snuggled all the time. They have stuffy noses, deep coughs, and sore throats! Poor buddies!! I’m hoping they will get over it soon enough!! I’ve been cleaning all morning.

Below is Jack and Preston at 10 months!!

Well that may be all for now!! …until next time! xoxo ❤

Surprise: Pip 3.0!

We are excited to announce that Pip3.0 will be here in March 2018!!I found out I was pregnant shortly after returning from Iceland. Something about those international waters, I tell ya 😉

This pregnancy has been so different from my last two! Actually, they’ve all been pretty different. The first trimester I was always cold. Which is so weird for me because as most of you know, I’m usually a heat box, and I have been since becoming pregnant with Preston 4 years ago. I’ve also had a huge meat aversion. I cannot eat hardly any meat, and when I do, it has to be very little. So we’ve been cooking a lot of vegetarian meals around here. Which is a nice change, I’m just always trying to find ways to get any extra protein I can (eggs, pistachios, peanut butter, etc)

IMG_8545

Thankfully, I haven’t been sick like I was with Jack. The first trimester I was just so darn tired all the time!! I was napping with the boys every day and we had to stay inside for a few weeks because the heat (100’s) didn’t help. Now that it’s cooled off outside and I’m in my second trimester, things have been going well! Today I am 17w3d pregnant.

We had our first ultrasound at 7 weeks. It’s crazy how each doctor does things differently. With Preston I had a bunch of ultrasounds (9 weeks, 14 weeks, 19 weeks, and around 32 weeks). With Jack I just had 2 ultrasounds (12 weeks and 21 weeks). I’ll have my next ultrasound for Pip3 at 19 weeks.

db92e9ad-1902-4010-801e-a4ffb0b51e50.jpeg

A lot of the time I forget I’m even pregnant!! Which has actually been really nice! There are the times that I get winded super easily, or the times my stomach gets in the way when I’m trying to lay Jack in his crib, but otherwise, it hasn’t been bad at all!

We are excited for this little bundle to arrive (but please baby, cook as long as you’d like–I made it 41 weeks with Jack). It may be crazy adding another one to the bunch. Jack and Pip3 will only be 14 months apart. Thankfully Jack is a pretty easy going baby these days and Preston is such a good helper around the house!!

Jack – 8 months!

Time just needs to slow down!! Our little Bear is 8 months old!!

IMG_7119

He has been changing so much everyday! At the start of the month he was just crawling a few crawls and then dropping. Or doing his little monkey crawl!!

IMG_7250

Now he is crawling all over the place!! It’s really been quite nice because he doesn’t want me to carry him all day, everyday now! He’s so heavy my back and arms have been killing me. He can chase after big brother and take his toys. 😆

IMG_7053

Jack is able to stand by himself dor for a few seconds!!

IMG_7338

He loves standing.

IMG_7630

He can also pull himself up on things! Actually, this morning when we went in to get him from his crib, he was standing!!

IMG_7124

He has 2 teeth he’s had for a couple weeks now, cutting those 2 bottom teeth have been rough. He’s regressed on sleeping a bit because of it. For awhile he was waking up at 1am and 4am to eat. Thankfully he’s back to just waking up around 4:30 to eat. It’s a little hard to get him back to bed after that, but we do, and he will sleep until anywhere from 5:30-6:30. I do think he has more teeth about ready to come through. Fussy, drooling, chewing on his fingers constantly… I forgot how much work teething was.. for mom and baby!!

IMG_7460

He eats some solid foods. He really isn’t a huge fan of them yet. He loves hummus and cottage cheese!! We are trying to broaden his palate. He’s had spinach, fish, and so much more!! We always give him bits of what we are eating. I think that’s what helped with Preston when he was young. Now that kid will eat anything!!! We obviously don’t give him anything sugary, no need to become an addict alreasy! Lol. He has had puffs, but isn’t a huge fan. He’s not a huge fan of any baby food, really!! 🤷🏻‍♀️

IMG_7419

He had his first night over with his Grandma Eileen this past weekend. I think he was a little hard on her. Haha! He woke up a few times at night and was up bright and early in the morning. Im just glad we did it, it’s hard leaving them the first time!! Especially since he’s been EBF. However, my hubby gives him a bottle of breastmilk (8oz!) every night before bed. I really didn’t want Jack to rely on me to go to bed, like Preston used to. It made it so hard on me whenever I needed to be away for a bit. Preston never took a bottle either. 😱 So I’m just sooo happy our little Jack Bear can survive without his mama for a few hours, and even over night, if needed!!!

IMG_7066

jack usually goes up to bed at 6:30 and then will be up for the day about 5:30-6:30ish. Waking one time to eat. Which is great for a teething baby, I think!! Naptime is a different story. Jack will take two 30 min naps a day. That’s it!! And it’s sooo hard to get him to take a nap, too. It’s exhausting. Big brother still takes a 2-3 hour nap each day. I’m hoping he will sleep longer once I cut him down to one nap, but right now, he needs its morning nap, otherwise he gets so tired! For awhile with his afternoon nap, once he’d wake, I would go grab him and rock him so he would sleep longer (since it was during Prestons nap and I wanted to relax a bit longer). I’ve stopped doing that though, I’m not sure if that’s why Jack would wake up after exactly 30 minutes of sleep, knowing I’d come rock him then. Honestly, I’ll miss it, but I can’t get him used to napping while I rock him. I won’t be able to do that soon enough, so I don’t want to instill poor sleeping habits!! It’s a work in progress, we are both tired and exhausted during the day, but I’m hoping one day something will give! Until then, I’ll enjoy my MAYBE 20 minutes of alone/down time each day.

IMG_7389

I think that’s about it for our little Bear!

IMG_7505

He is a joy, and so sweet.

IMG_7223

He’s going through a tiny rough patch with teething and napping, but otherwise developing awesome!!

IMG_7121

Oh yeah, he also says mama and dada!

IMG_7032

And he waves!!!!! He’s just changing so much! 🙂

IMG_7173

One last family picture to end it 🙂

IMG_7609

…until next time!! xoxo ❤

Jack – 6 months

Happy half birthday to our little Bear!!

IMG_4745

Jack is such a little sweetie. He’s our chill – go with the flow – happy baby.

IMG_4710

He has been trying SO hard to crawl lately!! He gets those arms up and will push his legs forward, but he just hasn’t figured out how to get the to work together! haha. He isn’t able to get up on his knees yet!

IMG_4819

he does so well sitting up without falling over.

IMG_4689

He enjoys sitting up to play with his toys!

IMG_4679

He loves looking in the mirror and is always smiling at himself and when you talk to him and hold him up in the air!! That always makes him giggle. He’s still our smiley boy.

IMG_1684

(below is a picture of the boys in Iceland)

IMG_4433

When I was at Meijer this morning I had him facing forward in my infantino baby carrier and every single person we passed made a comment about how happy of a baby he was. Aparently he was flashing gummy smiles at everyone!! I lost count of how many people mentioned his smile at 20. 😳👏🏼

IMG_4226

Jack gets some baby food around dinner time. His favorite is peas so far. I did give him a few scrambled eggs the other day, he wasn’t too sure about that! He also had a mini bagel last weekend. Oops! He was in the carrier and wanted something to play with and we were at a pot luck so I saw a mini bagel for him to hold. The next thing I knew he has a tiny soggy piece left in the palm of his hand. Haha 🤣

IMG_4176

I give Jack a bottle every day at 5pm. I really want Jack to take a bottle since Preston never did. So I make sure to give him one everyday. He will drink anywhere from 3-5 oz which is great for an EBF baby!

image

Jack went on his first campout last weekend. We slept in a tent and the temps got down into the 40’s. So in order to keep warm we threw the book out the window and coslept and snuggled with lots of blankets and pillows. Brr!! He did really well and slept through the night! Woohoo!

speaking of sleeping through the night, jack has regressed a bit since we’ve returned from Iceland. Before we left, he slept a good 11 hours without waking. Now he will wake 1-2 times per night. Sometimes a binky will put him back down and sometimes I have to feed him. I’m hoping it’s a short lived stage and he’s just adjusting to being back!! Funny thing is that he slept through the night the entire 2 weeks we were in Iceland!!

IMG_1818

jack still doesn’t nap well. I can usually get him to take a nap first thing in the morning. The next nap all depends on what we have going on. Usually he will only nap 2 times a day (45 min each). If I’m lucky I can get him to nap for 1.5 hrs on days that Preston has school!

IMG_4766

jack weighs 23 pounds! He’s actually slowed down on the weight gain. He’s only gained one pound since last month! He still feels like carrying a sack of cement around. haha! my poor back!

IMG_4403

This weekend we are celebrating Jack with a nice long weekend at home!!! We will have 5 days with nothing to do. I can’t wait. It’ll be glorious!! Our first weekend home in over a month. We are hoping to get in a few bike rides, a picnic, maybe a couple trips to the library, aquatic center, and even the zoo! It should be a good time.

oh, and he loves his big Bro!! SO MUCH!!! Preston can get Jack to laugh like no one else! 🙂

IMG_1634

well that’s about it for our little Jack Bear!

…until next time! xoxo ❤

Traveling Internationally with Kids (must haves!)

We just got back from spending 2 weeks in Iceland! We had our kids (ages 3 and 5 months) in tow.

Here are a few items that made our trip a success:

IMG_4778

  1. Portable sound machine. I kid you not, this is the best invention ever! It is $10, it can clip onto a stroller, carseat, baby carrier, etc! It runs off batteries (perfect for going international) and you can choose to have it run for 15, 30, and 45 minutes OR you can let it run forever. 🙂 This really helped with getting our kids to nap on the go, plus we used it in our sons crib at night. You can get it at Target or Amazon. (myBaby sound spa on-the-go sound machine) IMG_4767You can spy it hanging on the stroller and laying in the crib.   IMG_4336IMG_1818
  2. A baby Carrier. We brought along our Ergo for our 3 year old and our Infantino for our 5 month old. The Ergo was perfect for our 3 year old because it’s like getting a piggy back ride without having to use your arms! haha. The Infantino was perfect for our 5 month old because he loves to face forward and look out at the world. Both works so well for napping on the go and hiking! Both of these can be purchased on Amazon or target as well!IMG_2568(okay so this photo makes me laugh! My 3 year old wouldn’t put his arms under the straps and then fell asleep and was just flopping. 🙂 It was pretty funny!IMG_4066IMG_4170

  3. Headphones for the toddler. I got these completely adorable headphones on Amazon! Its a little headband with speaker by the ears. It stays on and if your kiddo  falls asleep it’s still comfortable! (CozyPhones kids headphones)IMG_4768
  4. Hust Hat. This bad boy can block out the loud noises when you’re trying to get the little ones to nap! It was a life saver for the plane, restaurants, and just being out and about! The plus side, it keeps the babe warm!! You can get it at Target or Amazon as well. IMG_4769

(so funny, the hat did slip down and cover my son’s eyes. He is under there somewhere!! ha 🙂 )IMG_4204

5. Pacifier Clips and a Wubanub. If you have a little baby like we do, that pacifier clip will come in so handy! You can clip it onto the baby carrier, clothes, carseat, etc! That way you don’t have to worry about losing it.

6. Stroller with a rain cover. This last one really all depends on the age of your kids and whether or not you’re expecting to be around rain. We went to Iceland and the weather there is so crazy. Luckily it was nice most of the time, but it would randomly rain throughout our whole trip. The stroller and rain cover were a life saver when it was raining. It helped keep our kids warm and dry, we also were happy to stick everything else under there (shopping bags, diaper bag, camera, etc!

IMG_3498

Well there you have it! That is my list of MUST HAVES. Stay tuned for my next post on what to pack in your child’s carry on bag.

Thanks for stopping by!

…until next time! xoxo ❤

Jack – 3 Months!

Our little Chipper is 3 months old!!!

IMG_7752

The last 3 months have flown by!

IMG_7580

Jack, Jack, Jack….where to begin!

You are so happy all the time! You’re my little mini!! Daddy says you have my personality. Grandma even said you are just like me when I was a baby!!

IMG_7549

You love to smile and giggle!!

You are very social and smile at anyone who talks to you!! You always get a lot of attention from the ladies when we’re out. They are all so surprised when I tell them how old you are!! They always reply with ‘he’s huge!!’ haha 🙂

IMG_7645

You also love when Mommy sings to you!!! When I sing, you ‘sing’ with me. It’s so adorable. 🙂

You can roll from your tummy to your back!!

You’ve started playing with your hands and you bat your toys. You like to kick your piano and you like to watch tv!! Which I hate, Preston didn’t watch TV until he was like 15 months..and even then, he never actually sat and watched it until he was 2.5 or so. But Mommy needs a break sometimes and I let you watch it on occasion.

Speaking of needing a break, I cannot get you to nap for the life of me!!!! You will take a 2 hour nap during the day AND THAT’S IT!!  That’s not much for a little guy. That’s how you’ve coined the nickname ‘Bear’ too. When you do nap, we say, ‘don’t poke the Bear’!! it’s not that you’re a grumpy bear, it’s just that we don’t want to disrupt your naps since they’re so rare. ❤

You do sleep well in your car seat if we are running errands and in the ergo when we take walks.

IMG_7683

The good thing is that you aren’t cranky when you are not napping- which is a huge plus!! You are just ready for bed by 6pm every night!

On the bright side, you have been sleeping 12 hours a night (straight through) for a LONG time!! I am so grateful for that. I may not get any seconds to myself during the day, but at night, I get a full nights sleep!!

Since you are a non-napper, but a happy baby, we decided to take a family vacation ABROAD this summer!! We can’t wait. We shouldn’t have to worry about naps, but I’m bringing my Ergo just in case.

IMG_7416

You weigh  17 pounds!

IMG_7600

You are the sunshine we never knew we needed!!

IMG_7515

You and Big bro side by side!

IMG_7599

…until next time! xoxo ❤
