Jack – 7 months!

Our little Jack Bear is 7 months old!!

IMG_6158

He’s got such a happy soul. He answers to the names Jack, Bear, Bear Claw, and Quaffy. πŸ˜‚ (Because of his cute hair quaff. 😜)

IMG_6152

he isn’t crawling yet, he can scoot backwards and roll all around. He gets up on his hands and knees and rocks, but won’t go forward!

IMG_6435

Hes got one tooth through the bottom gums! He may be teething more because he has started waking up around 4am every morning. I will go in and feed him and he’ll go back down until anywhere from 5:30-7 am!

IMG_6451

He still enjoys his 2 powers naps each day. Usually 30-45 minutes each unless I hold him. Haha. The good news is even with lack of sleep, he’s still our happy, happy boy!!! Since the day he was born we’ve always joked that he’s such an awesome baby, he gives us baby fever!! It may not be a joke tho… haha

IMG_6260

He eats food usually once per day, but he is starting to enjoy it more. He usually wants to eat what we eat, so we usually will give him some to munch on! He loves hummus and yogurt!! Sweet corn and string cheese are also favorites.

IMG_6175

He’s slowed down on his weight gain! He is 22.9 pounds and thick as ever. He’s wearing size 6 diapers at night. πŸ™‚

IMG_6153

That’s about it for our little sweetie!!

IMG_6499

…until next time! Xoxo ❀️

Jack – 6 months

Happy half birthday to our little Bear!!

IMG_4745

Jack is such a little sweetie. He’s our chill – go with the flow – happy baby.

IMG_4710

He has been trying SO hard to crawl lately!! He gets those arms up and will push his legs forward, but he just hasn’t figured out how to get the to work together! haha. He isn’t able to get up on his knees yet!

IMG_4819

he does so well sitting up without falling over.

IMG_4689

He enjoys sitting up to play with his toys!

IMG_4679

He loves looking in the mirror and is always smiling at himself andΒ when you talk to him and hold him up in the air!! That always makes him giggle. He’s still our smiley boy.

IMG_1684

(below is a picture of the boys in Iceland)

IMG_4433

When I was at Meijer this morning I had him facing forward in my infantino baby carrier and every single person we passed made a comment about how happy of a baby he was. Aparently he was flashing gummy smiles at everyone!! I lost count of how many people mentioned his smile at 20. πŸ˜³πŸ‘πŸΌ

IMG_4226

Jack gets some baby food around dinner time. His favorite is peas so far. I did give him a few scrambled eggs the other day, he wasn’t too sure about that! He also had a mini bagel last weekend. Oops! He was in the carrier and wanted something to play with and we were at a pot luck so I saw a mini bagel for him to hold. The next thing I knew he has a tiny soggy piece left in the palm of his hand. Haha 🀣

IMG_4176

I give Jack a bottle every day at 5pm. I really want Jack to take a bottle since Preston never did. So I make sure to give him one everyday. He will drink anywhere from 3-5 oz which is great for an EBF baby!

image

Jack went on his first campout last weekend. We slept in a tent and the temps got down into the 40’s. So in order to keep warm we threw the book out the window and coslept and snuggled with lots of blankets and pillows. Brr!! He did really well and slept through the night! Woohoo!

speaking of sleeping through the night, jack has regressed a bit since we’ve returned from Iceland. Before we left, he slept a good 11 hours without waking. Now he will wake 1-2 times per night. Sometimes a binky will put him back down and sometimes I have to feed him. I’m hoping it’s a short lived stage and he’s just adjusting to being back!! Funny thing is that he slept through the night the entire 2 weeks we were in Iceland!!

IMG_1818

jack still doesn’t nap well. I can usually get him to take a nap first thing in the morning. The next nap all depends on what we have going on. Usually he will only nap 2 times a day (45 min each). If I’m lucky I can get him to nap for 1.5 hrs on days that Preston has school!

IMG_4766

jack weighs 23 pounds! He’s actually slowed down on the weight gain. He’s only gained one pound since last month! He still feels like carrying a sack of cement around. haha! my poor back!

IMG_4403

This weekend we are celebrating Jack with a nice long weekend at home!!! We will have 5 days with nothing to do. I can’t wait. It’ll be glorious!! Our first weekend home in over a month. We are hoping to get in a few bike rides, a picnic, maybe a couple trips to the library, aquatic center, and even the zoo! It should be a good time.

oh, and he loves his big Bro!! SO MUCH!!! Preston can get Jack to laugh like no one else! πŸ™‚

IMG_1634

well that’s about it for our little Jack Bear!

…until next time! xoxo ❀

Traveling Internationally with Kids (must haves!)

We just got back from spending 2 weeks in Iceland! We had our kids (ages 3 and 5 months) in tow.

Here are a few items that made our trip a success:

IMG_4778

  1. Portable sound machine.Β I kid you not, this is the best invention ever! It is $10, it can clip onto a stroller, carseat, baby carrier, etc! It runs off batteries (perfect for going international) and you can choose to have it run for 15, 30, and 45 minutes OR you can let it run forever. πŸ™‚ This really helped with getting our kids to nap on the go, plus we used it in our sons crib at night. You can get it at Target or Amazon. (myBaby sound spa on-the-go sound machine)Β IMG_4767You can spy it hanging on the stroller and laying in the crib. Β Β IMG_4336IMG_1818
  2. AΒ baby Carrier.Β We brought along our Ergo for our 3 year old and our Infantino for our 5 month old. The Ergo was perfect for our 3 year old because it’s like getting a piggy back ride without having to use your arms! haha. The Infantino was perfect for our 5 month old because he loves to face forward and look out at the world. Both works so well for napping on the go and hiking! Both of these can be purchased on Amazon or target as well!IMG_2568(okay so this photo makes me laugh! My 3 year old wouldn’t put his arms under the straps and then fell asleep and was just flopping. πŸ™‚ It was pretty funny!IMG_4066IMG_4170

  3. Headphones for the toddler.Β I got these completely adorable headphones on Amazon! Its a little headband with speaker by the ears. It stays on and if your kiddo Β falls asleep it’s still comfortable! (CozyPhones kids headphones)IMG_4768
  4. Hust Hat.Β This bad boy can block out the loud noises when you’re trying to get the little ones to nap! It was a life saver for the plane, restaurants, and just being out and about! The plus side, it keeps the babe warm!! You can get it at Target or Amazon as well.Β IMG_4769

(so funny, the hat did slip down and cover my son’s eyes. He is under there somewhere!! ha πŸ™‚ )IMG_4204

5.Β Pacifier Clips and a Wubanub.Β If you have a little baby like we do, that pacifier clip will come in so handy! You can clip it onto the baby carrier, clothes, carseat, etc! That way you don’t have to worry about losing it.

6.Β Stroller with a rain cover.Β This last one really all depends on the age of your kids and whether or not you’re expecting to be around rain. We went to Iceland and the weather there is so crazy. Luckily it was nice most of the time, but it would randomly rain throughout our whole trip. The stroller and rain cover were a life saver when it was raining. It helped keep our kids warm and dry, we also were happy to stick everything else under there (shopping bags, diaper bag, camera, etc!

IMG_3498

Well there you have it! That is my list of MUST HAVES. Stay tuned for my next post on what to pack in your child’s carry on bag.

Thanks for stopping by!

…until next time! xoxo ❀

Jack – 5 months

Our little Bear is 5 months old!!!

IMG_1107

The time is just flying by. He is so sweet and continues to amaze us with his personality. He’s our happy – go – lucky babe.

IMG_1105

We are heading to Iceland in a few days and are a little nervous about the flight + time change, but i’m hoping that little Jack will be a trooper, as per usual.

IMG_0895

So far jack can sit, he can roll from tummy to back, and from back to tummy!! He’s already starting to try and grab things from a far and is *trying* to get up on his knees!

IMG_1119

He can pick up his binky and put it into his mouth, which is so great when we are in the car!!

IMG_1137

He doesn’t need to nap though, I mean he does, but he doesn’t. haha! He can go all day with napping less than our 3 year old and you wouldn’t even notice!!! Not until bedtime anyway, as soon as we get his jimmies on he ‘falls of a cliff’. He is so ready for bed!! At least he will sleep 12 hours each night! Most of the time, he will take a 30 minute nap after he’s been awake for 2 hours. Then he will take another hour long nap from about 10 to 11. If I’m lucky, i can get him down for about 30 minutes during preston nap. However, sometimes that doesn’t work! Ever. haha! and if it doesn’t , he will want a power nap (like 15 minutes) from 3:45 to 4. πŸ™‚

IMG_0845

Today we were out all day running errands. He took a 15 minute nap. that was it!! He did nap again when Preston napped. But was up around 2:30 pm and stayed awake until bedtime. I mean, really???

IMG_1038

Little (big?) jack is 22 pounds. Crazy to believe he was only 7 pounds at birth. I have to wear him in the baby carrier all the time because he’s so heavy i can hardly carry him around otherwise.

IMG_0496

***

okay so when I started this post ^^ that was like 3 weeks ago. Haha! Life happens, I guess!

IMG_4336

But i’m here to finish and i’m happy to say we just got back from our trip to Iceland and Jack was amazing!!!!

IMG_1725

The time change, napping on the go, staying up late, etc, didn’t even bother him! Oh he is just too sweet!!!!

IMG_1737

While we were gone he started saying ‘Dada’ and it just happened to be on father’s day!! (June 18th).

IMG_4173

Well that’s all for now! I’ll be back with more updates about our trip! I’ll try to blog about each day trip we made from Reykjavik.

…until next time! xoxo ❀

Jack – 4 months

This is better late than never, but our little Jack Bear is 4 months old!!

IMG_9587

Thankfully, I take a lot of pictures and my phone remembers the date they were taken. haha πŸ™‚

IMG_9556

Oh Jack, I don’t even know where to begin! You always make us smile because YOU ARE SOOO SMILEY. You are always so chipper and happy.

IMG_9951

Please don’t ever change, sweet boy!!

Now that you are 4 months old you’ve started enjoying some pureed sweet potatoes and carrots on occasion! The funny thing is, one morning I came downstairs (daddy let me sleep in) and Daddy was feeding you your first baby food!! He didn’t take any pictures or video. Poor second child, I had to document it the second time you ate real food.

IMG_9949

You don’t particularly like food, but you do love to grab the spoon and feed yourself. πŸ™‚

You started sitting for a few seconds on your own a couple weeks before you were even 4 months old. You still enjoy sitting and batting at your toys at the top of your play mat.

IMG_9614

You also enjoy standing! You love keeping your legs straight. When we hold you up, you even will move your legs forward to walk a little ways, with our help of course.

IMG_9590

At 4 months old you were 19.6 pounds and the doctor told me you were on track with the biggest baby he’s ever seen! You were 25.5 inches tall and your head is just huge (100%). We love your round noggin’. The first time I realized it was so big was when we were at the park with your cousin London (who is 2 weeks younger than you) and it was sunny so you tried to borrow her hat, it would NOT FIT. No faking it either. It was a 0-6 month hat and you were 3 months old. You currently wear at 12-18 month hat. πŸ™‚

IMG_9892

You’ve been rolling from your tummy to your back since about 3.5 months. You haven’t quite mastered rolling from your back to your tummy. You have done it a few times, but usually you can’t get your leg over your belly to do it. But you do enjoy rolling to your side and you even sleep on your side quite a bit these days.

IMG_9697

You are so empathetic. Whenever your brother starts crying about something you look at me with this big frown. It’s like you know he’s sad and you’re sad for him.

IMG_9729

You love your big brother!!! Seriously, you are always smiling at him and you love when he plays with you.

IMG_9696

You love being worn in the baby carrier!!

IMG_0496

You have actually started napping better than before! I can usually get you down for a 30 min nap about 2 hours after you wake up, then another 1-2 hour nap, followed by one last hour long nap. Bedtime is 6:30 and you wake up between 5:30-6:30 each morning.

IMG_0458

You’ve recently started sucking your thumb, i know it’s a bad habit, but i think it’s totally adorable!!!

IMG_0495

We are heading to Iceland soon and I’m hoping you will be a trooper on the trip! So far you are a very easy going baby. So lets pray the time change doesn’t mess it all up!! πŸ™‚

IMG_0089

Okay, that’s enough rambling!!

Pictures of you through the months and a side by side of Big Brother Preston (left) and you!

…until next time! xoxo ❀

Jack – 3 Months!

Our little Chipper is 3 months old!!!

IMG_7752

The last 3 months have flown by!

IMG_7580

Jack, Jack, Jack….where to begin!

You are so happy all the time! You’re my little mini!! Daddy says you have my personality. Grandma even said you are just like me when I was a baby!!

IMG_7549

You love to smile and giggle!!

You are very social and smile at anyone who talks to you!! You always get a lot of attention from the ladies when we’re out. They are all so surprised when I tell them how old you are!! They always reply with ‘he’s huge!!’ haha πŸ™‚

IMG_7645

You also love when Mommy sings to you!!! When I sing, you ‘sing’ with me. It’s so adorable. πŸ™‚

You can roll from your tummy to your back!!

You’ve started playing with your hands and you bat your toys. You like to kick your piano and you like to watch tv!! Which I hate, Preston didn’t watch TV until he was like 15 months..and even then, he never actually sat and watched it until he was 2.5 or so. But Mommy needs a break sometimes and I let you watch it on occasion.

Speaking of needing a break, I cannot get you to nap for the life of me!!!! You will take a 2 hour nap during the day AND THAT’S IT!! Β That’s not much for a little guy. That’s how you’ve coined the nickname ‘Bear’ too. When you do nap, we say, ‘don’t poke the Bear’!! it’s not that you’re a grumpy bear, it’s just that we don’t want to disrupt your naps since they’re so rare. ❀

You do sleep well in your car seat if we are running errands and in the ergo when we take walks.

IMG_7683

The good thing is that you aren’t cranky when you are not napping- which is a huge plus!! You are just ready for bed by 6pm every night!

On the bright side, you have been sleeping 12 hours a night (straight through) for a LONG time!! I am so grateful for that. I may not get any seconds to myself during the day, but at night, I get a full nights sleep!!

Since you are a non-napper, but a happy baby, we decided to take a family vacation ABROAD this summer!! We can’t wait. We shouldn’t have to worry about naps, but I’m bringing my Ergo just in case.

IMG_7416

You weigh Β 17 pounds!

IMG_7600

You are the sunshine we never knew we needed!!

IMG_7515

You and Big bro side by side!

IMG_7599

…until next time! xoxo ❀

Preston – 3 years!

Happy birthday, Punky!! I can’t believe my little boy punk is 3 already!!!πŸ’™ You are, oh so sweet and charming. First thing in the morning you always say ‘I love you so much!!’ and give me a big hug. You tell me how cute jack is and that I’m beautiful. You look at me and say ‘you’re so beautiful, mommy!’ πŸ’ƒπŸ»Even though you spend like 95% of your waking time with me, you always like to tell me ‘how daddy does it’ or ‘what daddy says’! Haha. You are such a good big brother to Jack. You love to give him kisses and you started calling him ‘little chipper’.🀣 You have become so independent lately! (100% potty trained! Yeah!) But you still love your snuggles with mom and dad!! You are a little more demanding these days and enjoy acting out during the day when I’m busy with Jack. But I’m hoping that just means you will make a good CEO someday! 😝You can play by yourself, you have a great imagination, and love running away from monsters that are chasing you! 🀒so cheers with our chocolate milk to my smart and silly 3 year old! πŸ˜˜πŸ’•

(I had to throw that last pic in here! You said Jack was cold and needed to cover him up!🀣)

I am just so proud of the little boy you have become! I’ve never felt like you went through the terrible 1’s or 2’s! There was a little rough patch shortly after Jack was born. That only lasted a few weeks and now you’re better than ever. Every day your Daddy and I talk about how fun and sweet you are!

The other day when I was cooking dinner you looked at me and said: “Mommy, I want to go buy you pink tulips!” That is just like you. So sweet and thoughtful. Every time we go to Aldi you pick out flowers for me by the check out. ❀ you will make an awesome husband some day!!

You got a watch for your birthday (not a digital one either) and you are so cute with it!! When I ask you what time it is you’ll say “It’s 7 and 3, mom” (meaning 7:15)

Everyday you’re at school your teachers tell me how amazing you are! Yesterday when I asked you who you played with at school you said, “Jack and Evan. I love Jack and Evan. They are my best friends!” (not brother Jack; to clarify)

When we were at the gym (in our new town) for the first time, when I went to pick you and Jack back up from the nursery, the lady in there told me how attentive you are to your baby brother. She said she rarely sees that with older sibling. But you were on the ball with his Binky (pinky as you call it), if he was crying, etc!

you are an amazing eater! You will eat anything!!! The other day you were downing sardines and decaf green tea. I think it’s because Daddy has had you on a broad palette since the beginning (think: beef liver, pickled herring, fresh kale picked from the garden…)

Okay, Okay, I’m done rambling! I just love you sooo much! xoxo

…until next time!! xoxo
