Jack – 5 months

Our little Bear is 5 months old!!!

The time is just flying by. He is so sweet and continues to amaze us with his personality. He’s our happy – go – lucky babe.

We are heading to Iceland in a few days and are a little nervous about the flight + time change, but i’m hoping that little Jack will be a trooper, as per usual.

So far jack can sit, he can roll from tummy to back, and from back to tummy!! He’s already starting to try and grab things from a far and is *trying* to get up on his knees!

He can pick up his binky and put it into his mouth, which is so great when we are in the car!!

He doesn’t need to nap though, I mean he does, but he doesn’t. haha! He can go all day with napping less than our 3 year old and you wouldn’t even notice!!! Not until bedtime anyway, as soon as we get his jimmies on he ‘falls of a cliff’. He is so ready for bed!! At least he will sleep 12 hours each night! Most of the time, he will take a 30 minute nap after he’s been awake for 2 hours. Then he will take another hour long nap from about 10 to 11. If I’m lucky, i can get him down for about 30 minutes during preston nap. However, sometimes that doesn’t work! Ever. haha! and if it doesn’t , he will want a power nap (like 15 minutes) from 3:45 to 4. 🙂

Today we were out all day running errands. He took a 15 minute nap. that was it!! He did nap again when Preston napped. But was up around 2:30 pm and stayed awake until bedtime. I mean, really???

Little (big?) jack is 22 pounds. Crazy to believe he was only 7 pounds at birth. I have to wear him in the baby carrier all the time because he’s so heavy i can hardly carry him around otherwise.

okay so when I started this post ^^ that was like 3 weeks ago. Haha! Life happens, I guess!

But i’m here to finish and i’m happy to say we just got back from our trip to Iceland and Jack was amazing!!!!

The time change, napping on the go, staying up late, etc, didn’t even bother him! Oh he is just too sweet!!!!

While we were gone he started saying ‘Dada’ and it just happened to be on father’s day!! (June 18th).

Well that’s all for now! I’ll be back with more updates about our trip! I’ll try to blog about each day trip we made from Reykjavik.

…until next time! xoxo ❤

Jack – 4 months

This is better late than never, but our little Jack Bear is 4 months old!!

Thankfully, I take a lot of pictures and my phone remembers the date they were taken. haha 🙂

Oh Jack, I don’t even know where to begin! You always make us smile because YOU ARE SOOO SMILEY. You are always so chipper and happy.

Please don’t ever change, sweet boy!!

Now that you are 4 months old you’ve started enjoying some pureed sweet potatoes and carrots on occasion! The funny thing is, one morning I came downstairs (daddy let me sleep in) and Daddy was feeding you your first baby food!! He didn’t take any pictures or video. Poor second child, I had to document it the second time you ate real food.

You don’t particularly like food, but you do love to grab the spoon and feed yourself. 🙂

You started sitting for a few seconds on your own a couple weeks before you were even 4 months old. You still enjoy sitting and batting at your toys at the top of your play mat.

You also enjoy standing! You love keeping your legs straight. When we hold you up, you even will move your legs forward to walk a little ways, with our help of course.

At 4 months old you were 19.6 pounds and the doctor told me you were on track with the biggest baby he’s ever seen! You were 25.5 inches tall and your head is just huge (100%). We love your round noggin’. The first time I realized it was so big was when we were at the park with your cousin London (who is 2 weeks younger than you) and it was sunny so you tried to borrow her hat, it would NOT FIT. No faking it either. It was a 0-6 month hat and you were 3 months old. You currently wear at 12-18 month hat. 🙂

You’ve been rolling from your tummy to your back since about 3.5 months. You haven’t quite mastered rolling from your back to your tummy. You have done it a few times, but usually you can’t get your leg over your belly to do it. But you do enjoy rolling to your side and you even sleep on your side quite a bit these days.

You are so empathetic. Whenever your brother starts crying about something you look at me with this big frown. It’s like you know he’s sad and you’re sad for him.

You love your big brother!!! Seriously, you are always smiling at him and you love when he plays with you.

You love being worn in the baby carrier!!

You have actually started napping better than before! I can usually get you down for a 30 min nap about 2 hours after you wake up, then another 1-2 hour nap, followed by one last hour long nap. Bedtime is 6:30 and you wake up between 5:30-6:30 each morning.

You’ve recently started sucking your thumb, i know it’s a bad habit, but i think it’s totally adorable!!!

We are heading to Iceland soon and I’m hoping you will be a trooper on the trip! So far you are a very easy going baby. So lets pray the time change doesn’t mess it all up!! 🙂

Okay, that’s enough rambling!!

Pictures of you through the months and a side by side of Big Brother Preston (left) and you!

…until next time! xoxo ❤

Jack – 3 Months!

Our little Chipper is 3 months old!!!

The last 3 months have flown by!

Jack, Jack, Jack….where to begin!

You are so happy all the time! You’re my little mini!! Daddy says you have my personality. Grandma even said you are just like me when I was a baby!!

You love to smile and giggle!!

You are very social and smile at anyone who talks to you!! You always get a lot of attention from the ladies when we’re out. They are all so surprised when I tell them how old you are!! They always reply with ‘he’s huge!!’ haha 🙂

You also love when Mommy sings to you!!! When I sing, you ‘sing’ with me. It’s so adorable. 🙂

You can roll from your tummy to your back!!

You’ve started playing with your hands and you bat your toys. You like to kick your piano and you like to watch tv!! Which I hate, Preston didn’t watch TV until he was like 15 months..and even then, he never actually sat and watched it until he was 2.5 or so. But Mommy needs a break sometimes and I let you watch it on occasion.

Speaking of needing a break, I cannot get you to nap for the life of me!!!! You will take a 2 hour nap during the day AND THAT’S IT!!  That’s not much for a little guy. That’s how you’ve coined the nickname ‘Bear’ too. When you do nap, we say, ‘don’t poke the Bear’!! it’s not that you’re a grumpy bear, it’s just that we don’t want to disrupt your naps since they’re so rare. ❤

You do sleep well in your car seat if we are running errands and in the ergo when we take walks.

The good thing is that you aren’t cranky when you are not napping- which is a huge plus!! You are just ready for bed by 6pm every night!

On the bright side, you have been sleeping 12 hours a night (straight through) for a LONG time!! I am so grateful for that. I may not get any seconds to myself during the day, but at night, I get a full nights sleep!!

Since you are a non-napper, but a happy baby, we decided to take a family vacation ABROAD this summer!! We can’t wait. We shouldn’t have to worry about naps, but I’m bringing my Ergo just in case.

You weigh  17 pounds!

You are the sunshine we never knew we needed!!

You and Big bro side by side!

…until next time! xoxo ❤

Preston – 3 years!

Happy birthday, Punky!! I can’t believe my little boy punk is 3 already!!!💙 You are, oh so sweet and charming. First thing in the morning you always say ‘I love you so much!!’ and give me a big hug. You tell me how cute jack is and that I’m beautiful. You look at me and say ‘you’re so beautiful, mommy!’ 💃🏻Even though you spend like 95% of your waking time with me, you always like to tell me ‘how daddy does it’ or ‘what daddy says’! Haha. You are such a good big brother to Jack. You love to give him kisses and you started calling him ‘little chipper’.🤣 You have become so independent lately! (100% potty trained! Yeah!) But you still love your snuggles with mom and dad!! You are a little more demanding these days and enjoy acting out during the day when I’m busy with Jack. But I’m hoping that just means you will make a good CEO someday! 😝You can play by yourself, you have a great imagination, and love running away from monsters that are chasing you! 🤢so cheers with our chocolate milk to my smart and silly 3 year old! 😘💕

(I had to throw that last pic in here! You said Jack was cold and needed to cover him up!🤣)

I am just so proud of the little boy you have become! I’ve never felt like you went through the terrible 1’s or 2’s! There was a little rough patch shortly after Jack was born. That only lasted a few weeks and now you’re better than ever. Every day your Daddy and I talk about how fun and sweet you are!

The other day when I was cooking dinner you looked at me and said: “Mommy, I want to go buy you pink tulips!” That is just like you. So sweet and thoughtful. Every time we go to Aldi you pick out flowers for me by the check out. ❤ you will make an awesome husband some day!!

You got a watch for your birthday (not a digital one either) and you are so cute with it!! When I ask you what time it is you’ll say “It’s 7 and 3, mom” (meaning 7:15)

Everyday you’re at school your teachers tell me how amazing you are! Yesterday when I asked you who you played with at school you said, “Jack and Evan. I love Jack and Evan. They are my best friends!” (not brother Jack; to clarify)

When we were at the gym (in our new town) for the first time, when I went to pick you and Jack back up from the nursery, the lady in there told me how attentive you are to your baby brother. She said she rarely sees that with older sibling. But you were on the ball with his Binky (pinky as you call it), if he was crying, etc!

you are an amazing eater! You will eat anything!!! The other day you were downing sardines and decaf green tea. I think it’s because Daddy has had you on a broad palette since the beginning (think: beef liver, pickled herring, fresh kale picked from the garden…)

Okay, Okay, I’m done rambling! I just love you sooo much! xoxo

…until next time!! xoxo

Jack – 2 months!

Sweet Little Jack is almost 3 months old! I’m finally getting around to doing his little 2 month post!

He is just as cute as can be and is such a happy baby!!

He’s very social and loves ‘talking’, cooing, giggling, an smiling! It’s one of those things, where we thought our first was a good baby, and little jack is SUCH a good baby!

At Jack’s 2 month appoinment, he was 14 lbs 9.4oz (91%) 23.5 inches long (70%) and his head is 40cm (74%–smaller  than i thought. lol)

He is so sweet and gives us baby fever! Lol 💕

He sleeps so well in his car seat and makes it easy on me to run errands and do some shopping!

We recently booked plane ✈️ tickets to Iceland this summer. Our first vacation as a family of four!! Praying our sweet, easy going baby stays this way through the summer at least!🤞🏽

Preston is the best big bro to a Jack!!

We cant wait to watch you grow, little boy!

Below is Jack at 1 month and 2 months!!

For fun! Here is a side by side of Jack and Preston at 2 months!

…until next time!! Xoxo ❤️

#momlife #loveit !!

2016 in review

Even though January is coming to an end, I thought I would do a little 2016 year in review! With the arrival of baby Jack, we didn’t get around to sending out Christmas cards to all of our friends and family.

We started the year off planning our trip to Australia for my one of my best friends’ wedding. I was lucky enough to be her Matron of Honor! Since Chad and I had already been to Australia a few times, we decided to use this trip as the perfect excuse to see New Zealand!

After the wedding we hopped a flight to New Zealand. We rented a camper van and drove along the south island. We had a blast camping out and the scenery was amazing!! We were able to visit wineries, go sky diving, and just enjoy each others company while taking in the most wonderful views! It was such an awesome vacation and I always forget how much I love camping! 🙂

Chad’s sister watched Preston while we were gone. It was so nice to get away knowing he was in good hands! We sure did miss him though! Two weeks away was definitely long enough!

Shortly after returning from ‘down under’ we found out we were expecting a baby due in December!

Chad also started traveling to Nebraska for work 4-5 days a week upon returning from our trip. I definitely had my hands full with Preston and being pregnant (and sick until 27 weeks…okay, who am I kidding?? I was sick up until the day that I had Jack). The good news was that Chad had accepted a new role in Chicagoland and, thankfully, he wouldn’t be traveling in his new role. So while he finished up his days traveling, Preston and I were at home cleaning and keeping our house in perfect condition for showings. It was a crazy 6 months filled with house hunting trips, inspections, and more house hunting trips.

{{side note, we actually made an offer on a house, it was accepted, and then we decided to back out after the inspection–this happened towards the end of October. We ended up going back to the first house we fell in love with, made an offer, and luckily it was accepted on the evening of October 30th.}}

The plan was for Preston and I to stay at our house in Iowa until it sold, thankfully, it sold in 3 weeks and we were able to join Chad in Illinois. We closed on our house November 30th and were able to get moved in and settled that weekend. We had family come over to help us unpack and organize our whole house!! It was such a blessing considering I was about 37 weeks pregnant by then.

In December I scouted out some schools for Preston. We got him enrolled in a cute little school that is just a couple miles from our house! It was a little transition for him; new house, new school, new baby brother on the way…but he’s done so well! It’s so awesome hearing him tell us stories about what he learns at school.

We were able to host Christmas for my family! They were hoping Jack would make his appearance while they were all here…but of course that didn’t happen! He decided to wait a little longer.

We finally were able to meet our little bundle on December 30th. He arrived in less than 3 hours and has had our hearts ever since! He was 7 lbs 11 oz and was 20 inches long. He has been such a good baby so far. He’s very content and easy going and gives me baby fever (is that even possible?!?! haha). We can’t wait to watch him grow–hopefully not too fast though!

Preston has really taken to being a big brother. He loves Jack so much already! He’s always wanting to kiss him and hold him. He’s been a good helper too, always fetching me things, doing tummy time with Jack, helping with bath time, giving Jack his binky, or as punk calls it, his ‘pinky’. 🙂 Although, Preston has tested me on more occasions than I’d like to admit, at least he loves his brother! My sweet boy has decided to rebel against his Mom a bit. He still loves construction sites and machinery. He’s smart and silly and the perfect mix of Chad and me. We look forward to seeing his relationship with Jack grow into something special! (I’ve already gotten them 3 matching sweaters for next winter and matching bowties for Christmas!! YAY!)

We were able to ring in the New Year from the hospital and were discharged the next day. We definitely started the year off with a bang! We were able to bring our new addition to our new home for the very first time on January 1st.

Well, that was our year in a nutshell! Can’t wait to see what 2017 has in store for us!!

We hope the New Year brings you all the happiness. ❤

…until next time! xoxo ❤

Jack Urban – one month!

Our little sweet potato is ONE MONTH old today!! I can’t even believe how fast his first month has gone!

Jack made pictures easy this morning because he was being so smiley and content! Jack is 11 lbs 4 oz. That is about a 4 pound weight gain since we left the hospital.

He loves looking out out the window and being snuggled! He sleeps 5 hour stretches so I feel pretty refreshed most of the time!! 🙌🏿 You can’t really tell in the pictures but it looks like Jack’s eyes are turning from grey to blue. So we’ll see what they end up being–but for now, they look blueish!

Here is a side by side comparison of Jack with his big brother, Preston.

Preston is on the left and Jack is on the right. {{you can tell how much iPhone camera quality has changed within the last 3 years!!}}

its crazy to see how much baby Jack has changed within the last month. Here are weekly pictures of our little guy!

one week: 8 lbs 4 oz

two weeks: 9 lbs 4 oz

three weeks: 10 lbs 8 oz

four weeks: 11 lbs 2 oz

the photo from ‘4 weeks’ was just a couple days ago 😛

Sweet  baby Jack has made life so much sweeter!! ❤️😊

…until next time! Xoxo ❤️
